{"id":393,"date":"2017-06-19T21:44:18","date_gmt":"2017-06-19T21:44:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev2.berenbaumlaw.com\/?page_id=393\/"},"modified":"2017-06-19T21:44:18","modified_gmt":"2017-06-19T21:44:18","slug":"q-visa-international-cultural-exchange-program","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/berenbaumlaw.com\/en\/practice-areas\/q-visa-international-cultural-exchange-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Q Visa \u2013 International Cultural Exchange Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Q Visa \u2013 International Cultural Exchange Program&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221;][separator width=&#8221;20px&#8221; height=&#8221;1px&#8221; color=&#8221;#660030&#8243; margin_top=&#8221;20px&#8221; margin_bottom=&#8221;20px&#8221;][vc_column_text]The Q-1 nonimmigrant exchange program is designed to provide practical training and employment to a foreign national, and to share the history, culture, and traditions of his\/her home country with the U.S. This classification is also known the \u201cDisney visa\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Only employers who administer cultural exchange programs are allowed to petition for Q-1 nonimmigrants.<\/p>\n<h4>Requirements<\/h4>\n<p>To qualify for an Q-1 visa:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The employer must demonstrate that the program is employment oriented, but that an integral part of the alien\u2019s duties have a cultural element; and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The employer must demonstrate that it maintains an established international cultural exchange program; and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The visa applicant must be at least 18 years old; and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The visa applicant must be able to communicate effectively about the cultural attributes of his\/her country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Period of Stay<\/h4>\n<p>The Q-1 classification is granted for a period not to exceed 15 months.<\/p>\n<h4>Family of Q Visa Holders<\/h4>\n<p>The Q-1 nonimmigrant visa does not have a provision for the spouse or children of a Q-1 worker.
